Review: War by Brittanee Nicole

Image
War by Brittanee Nicole I’ve never been a good bet. I wear my emotions on my tattoo-covered sleeve, I say all the wrong things and I revel in pissing off a certain redhead far more than I should. In other words, I’m the last person the court would choose to parent any child, let alone three of them. Yet being their father is all I want. So when the woman I love to hate offers to help make all my dreams come true, I jump at the chance. Marrying Ava is a convenient solution: she's my kids favorite person and the court will absolutely approve of the woman who runs the biggest charity in Boston. But there is nothing convenient about the way I feel when she fights with me, or when we kiss. And I'm not sure which I enjoy more. This marriage may have a time limit but I'm beginning to think I'd like to keep my wife. She’ll probably fight me on it, but as they say, all’s fair in love and war. My Review: My rating: 3 of 5 stars This book I love the character I'm really...

Review: Face Off by Chelsea Curto

Image
Face Off by Chelsea Curto Emerson (Emmy) Hartwell has waited for a spot on an NHL roster since she became a professional hockey player, and this season, she’ll finally get a chance to showcase her talents with the struggling D.C. Stars. Maverick Miller is the best player in the league, but he’s never had a winning record. Team captain and desperate to turn things around, he agrees to play nice with the fiery new left-winger even though they’re total opposites. After a night where the tension between them reaches a tipping point and they fall in bed together, Emmy and Maverick vow it was only one time. Just once to get it out of their systems so they can play better and help their team. It doesn’t mean anything. She doesn’t date hockey players. He’s a notorious playboy who doesn’t date. Period. Except… what should’ve been just once happens again, then again. They tell each other their friends with benefits arrangement is only for the season, but despite facing off on the i...

The Devils and The Duchess by Marissa Farrar,  S.R. Jones Everyone warned me to stay away from the Devils, but it’s not easy when one of them is going to become family… Desperation sends me and my mom to the prestigious university of Verona Falls. My mom is due to marry the dean—not because she wants to, but because we have no choice. That’s when I meet the dean’s son,  Domenic , and his friends,  Kirill  and  Valentino .The three of them make up the Devils—the most feared group at Verona Falls—and they intend to make my life hell. They call me ‘Duchess’, but it’s with a sneer. I’m poor and they’re not. They hate that I refuse to bow to them. They might think they can make my life not worth living, but they don’t know my secrets. My life has already been harder than they have any idea about. They control me and get under my skin, but I have to keep quiet or I’ll ruin everything. I’ve become their obsession…and they plan to destroy me. But they don’...

Review: Tattered Stars by Catherine Cowles

Image
Tattered Stars by Catherine Cowles Be brave. Just for sixty seconds. Twenty breaths. One night changed them both forever. Their lives shattered, beyond repair, with jagged edges and pieces askew. Now, Everly has a chance to make things right. To bring healing to the place where everything fell apart. But it means facing the family her father almost destroyed, and the boy with the dark eyes—now grown—who still haunts her dreams. Just one breath away from having your life ripped out from under you. The last thing Hayes wants is another reminder of all the ways he failed sixteen years ago. When Everly drives back into Wolf Gap, his only mission is to get her to leave. For his family’s sake, and for his own, those demons need to stay buried for good. But everything about this woman is a surprise, from her spine of steel to the sanctuary she hopes to create with the land her mother left behind. And Hayes is powerless to stay away. As a careful friendship sparks into something ...

Review: Rule #2: You Can't Crush on Your Sworn Enemy by Anne-Marie Meyer

Rule #2: You Can't Crush on Your Sworn Enemy by Anne-Marie Meyer He was my enemy, but my heart had other ideas. I live by three rules. One: I never get lower than an A in any class. Two: I never lose a cross-country race. And Three: I never talk to Cade Kelley Well, number three came crashing down the moment Principal Connell asks me to guide Cade back onto the right path. Something about helping him turn his life around. If only Principal Connell knew our history, he’d understand just what he’s asking. But, I have an incessant need to please all adults, so of course I say yes. When Cade seems pleased as well, I can’t help but wonder if this is part of some scheme. A plan he’s worked up to finish me once and for all. Apparently, what he did in junior high wasn’t enough. Just when I think I have everything figured out, my life spirals out of control. Suddenly, adults suck—especially parents—and pleasing them becomes the last thing I want to do. What confuses me even mo...
