Review: Dear Jade by Danielle Keil

Image
Dear Jade by Danielle Keil Everyone at Ryder High knows what it means to have a teal envelope taped to their locker on the first day of the month. Jade Rose knows. She just doesn’t care. The Secret Admirers game goes against every feminist notion she stands for. It’s old fashioned, misogynistic, and too mainstream for her. That is, until she gets a teal envelope. And finds out that she and her secret admirer have a few things in common already. Her acceptance may have been accidental, but when the clues start coming in the form of movies to watch, she gets sucked in quick. Will Jade and her friends be able to narrow down their list of suspects and figure out who is behind the camera? Review: Dear Kerri by Danielle Keil

Dear Kerri by Danielle Keil Everyone at Ryder High knows what it means to have a teal envelope taped to their locker on the first day of the month. But for Kerri Thomas, it’s not quite the moment she was waiting for. Busy with school, friends, and volleyball, she doesn’t know if she has time to play along and figure out who her Secret Admirer is. The clues send her on a wild scavenger hunt, proving that her admirer knows her better than she expected. But none of the clues give her hints about the guy. Kerri has a team of suspects, including her friends on the baseball team, but narrowing it down is near impossible without more information. Who could be Kerri’s secret admirer, and why isn’t he revealing anything about himself? Will Kerri be able to put the pieces of the puzzle together to figure it out?   My Review: Mood?  lighthearted Pace?   Medium Plot- or character-driven?   A mix Strong character development?   Yes Loveable characters?   Yes Diverse cast of

Review: Dear McKinnon by Danielle Keil

Image
Dear McKinnon by Danielle Keil Everyone knows what it means to have a teal envelope taped to their locker on the first day of the month. Everyone except new girl McKinnon Gregory. The envelope is the start of a monthly tradition called the Secret Admirers, and something McKinnon never thought she'd see. To her surprise-- and everyone else's-- the teal envelope is taped to her locker on March first. McKinnon only has one month to figure out the clues. But she barely knows anyone, which makes it infinitely harder to determine her secret admirer's identity. Will she figure it out before the month's over? And if she does, will the guy she's fallen for through letters be just as amazing in person?   My Review: Mood?  lighthearted Pace?   medium Plot- or character-driven?   A mix Strong character development?    Yes   Loveable characters?   Yes Diverse cast of characters?   N/a My rating: 5 of 5 stars This book is very good, and I cannot wait to see what hap

Review: The Facade by Judy Corry

Image
The Facade by Judy Corry Everyone has three lives. A public life, a private life, and a secret life. I’m a junior in high school, and yet, I’ve never been on a date. Everybody says it's because my overprotective brothers scare all the guys away, but I can't help wondering if there's something wrong with me. That is, until I hear a rumor that I’m secretly dating my brothers’ best friend. What? Sure, I used to think Mack was the most perfect guy in the universe, but I got over that crush years ago. And even though he teases my brothers about taking me to Make-Out Point, there’s no way he’d actually make good on that threat. I’ve only ever been the dorky girl next door to him. But when Mack’s sleepwalking episodes lead him to staying a few nights on the trundle bed in my room and we talk and share things we never tell anyone else, I start to wonder if a secret relationship is exactly what I want. My brothers have made it clear that Mack is never allowed near me.

Review: My Fiance's Dad by S.E. Law

Image
My Fiance's Dad by S.E. Law Cora knows she’s lucky to be engaged to the handsome Marky Harrison, a former high school football player. As a curvy girl, she knows her place in life and landing a man like Marky is sheer good fortune. But when her fiancé blows up their engagement, Cora retreats to a cabin to cry and rage. Matt Harrison has been attracted to his son’s beautiful, sassy fiancée for a long time, but he was determined NOT to be that douchebag father-in-law. The alpha male tamped down on his attraction to Cora while his son was in the picture, but now that Marky’s gone, why not act on his deepest desires …  even if it means giving Cora a baby? This is a taboo tale where a curvy girl meets the man of her dreams … who also happens to be her fiancé’s father. Forbidden? Check. Wrong? Check. Utterly sizzling, knock-your-socks-off-filthy, mouth-wateringly delicious? Check check. Click “Read” now! No cliffhangers, no cheating, and always a HEA for my readers. My Revi

Review: Taming Him by Kennedy Fox

Image
Taming Him by Kennedy Fox Alex Bishop is your typical cowboy. Charming, sexy, and wears a panty-melting smirk. Working on the ranch helped build his solid eight-pack and smoking body. He's every girl's wet fantasy, and he knows it too. Alex doesn't follow the rules of your typical playboy bachelor. After wining and dining his dates and giving them the best night of their lives, he always sends flowers and calls the next day—even if it's to say, let's just be friends. His mama taught him manners after all, and his Southern blood knows how to be a gentleman. Still, that isn’t enough to tame the wildest of the Bishop brothers. River Lancaster has finally met the man of her dreams. Too bad after six months of romantic bliss, she finds out he's married. With a broken heart and blind rage, she books herself a ticket to Key West, Florida. Tired of cheaters and liars, she’s set on escaping to forget he ever existed. Who needs a man when there's an all-

Review: Countdown to a Kiss by Piper Rayne

Image
Countdown to a Kiss by Piper Rayne Three professional hockey players from the Florida Fury attend a New Year’s Eve party at the team owner’s mansion and spend time with three very different women. As the countdown to midnight begins, each of them is hoping to start the new year off right with a kiss. But if that happens, does it mean they’re destined to see these women again? A sneak peek into Piper Rayne's series, Hockey Hotties! Review: Power Play by Maria Luis

Image
Power Play by Maria Luis He (was) the hottest player on the ice. She's a (struggling) sports journalist looking for her big break. Charlie Denton has been handed the most impossible assignment from her stick-in-the-mud boss: get an exclusive interview with the NHL's golden boy, Duke Harrison. The catch? She's got eight days or she’ll be demoted. Fired. Kicked to the curb - No way is she letting her future rest on the broad shoulders of a goalie who is at least three seasons past his prime. She has eight days to convince Duke that the loyal fans of The Cambridge Tribune (annual circulation: 1,000) are dying to know about his life, on and off the ice. Eight days to stand toe to toe with a man who is pure sex on a stick. Eight days to remember that every mind-blowing kiss is nothing but a power play. What could go wrong?   My Review: Mood?  lighthearted Pace?   medium Plot- or character-driven?   A mix Strong character development?    Yes   Loveable characters?

Review: My Bestie's Ex by Piper Rayne

Image
My Bestie's Ex by Piper Rayne I can’t borrow him. He’s not a sweater or a skirt. He’s not even her favorite dress—the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him. In my defense, I didn’t know who he was. To me, he was a cool, calm, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape. To an outsider, we probably appeared more friends than hopeful lovers. But my blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. We definitely shared a spark of what could be. Too bad I didn’t know who he was before I fell for him, because he can’t be mine.   My Review: Mood?  lighthearted Pace?   medium Plot- or character-driven?   A mix Strong character development?    Yes   Loveable characters?   Yes Diverse cast of characters?   N/a Flaws of characters a main focus?   Yes My rating: 5 of 5 stars I love this book I love this book an

Review: My Lucky #13 by Piper Rayne

Image
My Lucky #13 by Piper Rayne Lucky. The one adjective used to describe my entire hockey career. I prefer to call it hard work, at least I did until my game went to complete crap. I haven’t scored in eight games and my team owner is talking about trading me. I’ve never believed in superstitions. Never needed one. I suppose I was “lucky” in that way. But now the best way to refer to me is desperate. I’d wear the same socks for an entire year just to be the high-scoring center I used to be. Imagine my surprise when after spending New Year’s Eve with a woman, I score a hat trick in the next game—that’s three goals in one game for you non-hockey lovers. Now, I have to track her down and bribe her to do it again before every game. Get your mind out of the gutter, I’m not talking about it. I find her and when I get to know her better, I end up spending more time thinking about her than my game, but she’s made it clear she wants no part of me. She’s going to learn that I didn’t be

Review: Sweet Obsession by J. Daniels

Image
Sweet Obsession by J. Daniels From New York Times bestselling author, J. Daniels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE novel that does NOT need to be read in conjunction with any other book. Everyone knows Brooke Wicks loves to have a good time. She’s not interested in getting serious, settling down, or limiting herself to one man. So when she meets the sexy, irresistible Mason King, she sees another opportunity to let loose and go wild. But the gorgeous Aussie isn’t interested in just a quick fling with Brooke, and if she wants to get into his bed, she’s going to have to do it on his terms. Loving fast and hard has always been Mason’s philosophy. He doesn’t want a meaningless connection, he wants it all, and he wants it with Brooke. When she makes her one desire known—to hit it and quit it—Mason wages a plan to ensure Brooke keeps coming back for more. Or so he hopes. Getting her attention was the easy part. Keeping it might be damn near impossible. Sweet Obsession is where the

Review: Sweet Possession by J. Daniels

Image
Sweet Possession by J. Daniels From the author of the Alabama Summer series and the Dirty Deeds series, comes a sexy new companion novel to Sweet Addiction. A sassy, in-your-face baker. A panty-stealing, dirty-talking accountant. And a bathroom quickie that changed their lives forever. Wedding hookups never amount to anything. Unless that hookup knocks you on your ass. For Dylan Sparks and Reese Carroll, the big day can’t arrive soon enough. Dylan, stressed to the max from overbearing mothers and last minute preparations, struggles to keep her sanity. As for Reese, he’s fighting to not only keep his bride-to-be safe from creepy investors, but also to make it to the actual wedding day without losing his mind in the process. Throw in a crazy group of friends, and a bachelor/bachelorette party weekend getaway, and you have a recipe for the sweetest wedding of the year. Reese Carroll and Dylan Sparks cordially invite you to read Sweet Possession. My Review: Mood?  lighthearted Pace

Review: The Studying Hours by Sara Ney

Image
The Studying Hours by Sara Ney CRUDE. ARROGANT. A**HOLE. No doubt about it, Sebastian ‘Oz’ Osborne is the university’s most celebrated student athlete—and possibly the biggest douchebag. A walking, talking cliché, he has a filthy mouth, a fantastic body, and doesn’t give a sh*t about what you or anyone else thinks. SMART. CLASSY. CONSERVATIVE. Make no mistake, Jameson Clarke may be the university’s most diligent student—but she is no prude. Spending most of her time in the hallowed halls of the library, James is wary of pervs, jocks, and douchebags—and Oz Osborne is all three. She’s smart, sarcastic—and not what he expected. …EVERY DOUCHBAG HAS HIS WEAKNESS. He wants to be friends. He wants to spend time with her. He wants to drive her crazy. He wants… Her.   My Review: Mood?  lighthearted Pace?   medium Plot- or character-driven?   A mix Strong character development?    Yes   Loveable characters?   Yes Diverse cast of characters?   N/a Flaws of characters a main focus?
